Alazawey Update

The Alazaweys are doing well... still looking for jobs but they are in good spirits.

Team
We would still like to try to create more structure around our care for them. If you are interested in being part of the "Refugee Ministry Team" please email alliemangin@gmail.com. Our hope for this team is to be a group that is gathering once a month to pray for this family, the ministry, and the needs of our community. Get on board!

Volunteers
We still need people to help tutor and visit the Alazwey family. Their English is getting much better and they are a delight to be with. There is also a great need for someone to help Mahmood (the father) apply for jobs. Contact kaylanicole111@yahoo.com if you are interested.

2 Immediate Needs

Housing Items
The Alazawey's family arrived safely at 1 am this morning. They are staying at the Westminster Townhouse hopefully until tomorrow. Calvary is sponsoring their family and has provided most of the home furnishings. They are still in need of these items...

1. Bed pillows
2. Shower liner
3. Mattress
4. Crib mattress

If you would like to donate any of these items, please contact Jodie Cross from Calvary at 240-581-2277.

Childcare
The Alazaweys are in need of childcare tomorrow morning. The new family needs to go to Social Services and the Social Security offices from 7:30am-11:30 am. Rhasoon will go with the family for translating purposes, Mahmood has work tomorrow during the day, and the 14 year old daughter is required to go to the Social Security office. Please contact me if you are able to help abbyumlauf@gmail.com.

Want to Get Involved?

If you are interested in helping with the Alazawey family... check out ways to get involved.

Visit the Family
* Stop by and visit at 2926 F St. Mark's Drive (next to Bolton Park)
*If you have any questions, contact Abby Umlauf (abbyumlauf@gmail.com)
--> Everyone who visits must fill out a volunteer form. For electronic copies of the forms email tlee@wr.org - Tasha Lee is the World Relief Volunteer Coordinator.

Tutoring
* The kids need help with homework and the parents need as much English tutoring as possible. We have no official coordinator for this but if you are interested, email Allie Mangin at alliemangin@gmail.com to get connected with the family.

Transportation
* Can you help with transportation? Email acastle@wr.org - Andrew Castle is the caseworker with World Relief and has many opportunities to take the Alazaweys to appointments.

Employment
* Do you have employment opportunities for Mahmood? If you are interested in furniture being refinished, email Margie Ramsey at tramsey129@aol.com. Would you like your lawn mowed? Email Abby at abbyumlauf@gmail.com. Any ideas you can think of for employment would be excellent. Mahmood is great with his hands and has many skills with furniture. He is a hard worker and a quick learner.
